Transparent Acrylic Based Table Lamp

Inspired by the simplicity and utility found in a pair of serving tongs, designer Peter Stathis created his Tube Top Lamp in 2006. The composition features a transparent acrylic base that supports a lightweight mesh shade held in place by tension. The effect is that of a floating form over a barely visible base, tethered only by a fabric-covered cord. The tube top lamp is available in a scale that encourages mixing sizes for an interesting display. Stathis' work is included in the permanent collections of the Cranbrook Art Museum, the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum and MoMA in New York. White shade with charcoal base option is DWR exclusive. Tube top table lamp at Design Within Reach has on/off full-range dimmer.
